Prescribing Competency Framework, The intent of the framework was to promote the quality use of medicines across all prescribing professions, describing the competencies that health professionals require to prescribe medicines judiciously, appropriately, safely and efectively in the Australian healthcare system. It describes the demonstrable knowledge, skills, characteristics, qualities and behaviours for a safe and effective prescribing role. Assessment Strategy The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate the following and adhere to the RPS Competency Framework for Prescribers (2021):: Competency in safe and effective prescribing through achievement of passing the numeracy and pharmacology examinations.
